FIMLA Fisheries
The FIMLA Lake Stewardship Plan:
- Outlines a range of issues related to fish and fish habitiats on the FIMLA lakes;
- Provides recommendations that address what needs to be done to ensure a healthy population and sustainable fishery for anglers; and
- Proposes a set of actions and initiatives to achieve these aims.
These proposals are set out in the tabbed panels below, together with some material to act as a starting point for these tasks.
Volunteers are encouraged to come forward to help achieve the plan’s goal and objectives.

Walleye Policy
Key deliverables and actions:
- Continue to examine the potential for walleye spawning in Fourteen Island and Mink Lakes, and apply for MNR funding to rehabilitate if potential exists.
Monitoring of Fish Populations
Key deliverables and actions:
- Continue to monitor fish populations.
Catch Surveys
Key deliverables and actions:
- Conduct a creel survey to determine what fishermen are catching in the lakes.
Education and Information on Fisheries and Regulations
Key deliverables and actions:
- Develop an awareness and education campaign about the lakes’ fisheries, and current regulations.
