Rainbow over lakeThe Fourteen Island and Mink Lakes Association (FIMLA) represents the residents of Fourteen Island Lake, Mink Lake, Little John, Little John's Sister and Buffy Lakes. The Association speaks on behalf of all residents, permanent and seasonal, who live on these lakes.

These five lakes form a sub-watershed at the top end of the Napanee River System, straddling the Portland and Loughborough Districts of South Frontenac Township, north of Kingston, Ontario.

The Association is working with the local community to preserve and enhance the special character and scenic beauty of this part of the Land O'Lakes.

Location

The FIMLA lakes are located in the Portland and Loughborough districts of South Frontenac Township, north east of the village of Verona and north of Sydenham. They are about thirty kilometres north of Kingston and about 5 kilometres east of County Road 38.

Road Associations

Surrounding the FIMLA lakes there are a number of communities that maintain their own road networks. Several of these communities have established 'Road Associations', with executive committees or trustees, to collectively fund the upkeep and improvement of these roads. The principal Road Association areas are marked on the Location map (left).

The main three Associations are:

These road committees are primarily responsible for collecting fees from residents, along these unadopted, community roads, to pay for the cost of materials and hiring of contractors to maintain them.
